About the Project

MaizeWeb is the product of 4 University of Michigan alumni.

From an undergraduate Computer Science coursework view, the project began in EECS 481 (Software Engineering), matured in EECS 497 (Major Design Experience), some more in EECS 499 (Directed Study under Professor Elliot Soloway), and finally what it is today. The project augmented the traditional curriculum experience by giving the developers an opportunity to bring a product to market and deal with issues of code redesign, rewrite, and maintaining a production web application on the Internet.

Here's an idea of what we're up to at 4:00 in the morning when we hope everyone else is sleeping…

Chris provides his viewpoint on MaizeWeb marketing efforts.

The development atmosphere for MaizeWeb was one of mixed situations: Often development was an intense experience, as the software was iteratively updated and designed over more than a year. Other times, development revolved around the relaxed atmosphere of a summer day in Michigan, complete with porch software development and a cool brew.
